MPG Windage Tray Installation Instructions
for 351C, 429, & 460

Please read all instructions before starting the installation.

  1. Drain oil and remove oil pan and oil pump.

  2. Remove old main cap bolts from number 2 and number 4 main caps.  Replace with the new bolts provided in the kit.  Remove the old bolts one at a time.

  3. Torque the new main cap bolts to 100-105 ft. lbs.

  4. Install windage tray.  Make sure that the built in scraper is on the right (passenger) side of the crankshaft.

  5. Install the four 3/8" nuts provided in the kit.  Tighten to finger tight.  We recommend using some type of locking fluid on the threads.

  6. Adjust windage tray side to side to allow no less than .060 (1/16") clearance between the connecting rods or crankshaft and the windage tray scraper.

  7. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees making sure connecting rods and crankshaft clear the scraper by at least .060 (1/16").

  8. Torque windage tray nuts to 35 ft. lbs.

  9. Reinstall oil pump and check for oil pump to windage tray clearance.  Some pumps contact the tray and need to be ground lightly at that point.

  10. Install oil pan and oil.
