MPG Windage Tray Installation Instructions
for 351C, 429, & 460
Please read all instructions before starting the installation.
- Drain oil and remove oil pan and oil pump.
- Remove old main cap bolts from number 2 and number 4 main caps.
Replace with the new bolts provided in the kit. Remove the old bolts one
at a time.
- Torque the new main cap bolts to 100-105 ft. lbs.
- Install windage tray. Make sure that the built in scraper is on the
right (passenger) side of the crankshaft.
- Install the four 3/8" nuts provided in the kit. Tighten to finger
tight. We recommend using some type of locking fluid on the threads.
- Adjust windage tray side to side to allow no less than .060 (1/16")
clearance between the connecting rods or crankshaft and the windage
tray scraper.
- Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees making sure connecting rods and crankshaft
clear the scraper by at least .060 (1/16").
- Torque windage tray nuts to 35 ft. lbs.
- Reinstall oil pump and check for oil pump to windage tray clearance.
Some pumps contact the tray and need to be ground lightly at that point.
- Install oil pan and oil.
